Tip 499: Windows Easy Transfer
If you are thinking about using Windows Easy Transfer to quickly and easily move program settings to your new computer, think again if you plan to use it to move your Outlook account configuration. More often than not you’ll end up with a corrupt profile and will need to make a new profile.
If you forgo the easy transfer wizard, you can move the *.pst, *.nk2 and other support files yourself. The file locations are listed here: http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/filepath.htm
Windows Vista Easy Transfer?
I purchased a new computer with Windows Vista. I transferred files and settings using the Windows Easy Transfer. It seems that all my files and Internet Explorer settings transferred over, but my Outlook settings (contacts, e-mails, address book, etc) did not transfer. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this done?
Hit file, Import and export, then select "Export to file" and then put that file on your Vista computer, and do the same thing exept click "Import from another program or file" and then select the file you exported it to.
