They may well set up a situation where there is an angry or dissatisfied customer, where you'll need to show that you can listen to their complaint patiently and resolve the situation in a way that leaves the customer happy. Be understanding of what the 'customer' is complaining about. Always LISTEN first to what the customer has to say. However don't sit there endlessly while the 'customer' is ranting on and on and you don't get the chance to speak! If you have to, interrupt in a polite way by saying something like 'Yes, I can see that is a problem…let's see how I can sort it out for you'

If there is something that you are unable to answer. in a role play situation,..don't guess it, say that you'll find out and get back to them a.s.a.p.

The other thing I would suggest is to arrive early so that you can meet the other interviewees and at least get to know their names….this will make you feel more relaxed and if you interact well with them…the interviewer WILL notice as they will be watching out for this.

If there is a break for tea during the interview process, don't let your guard down, they will be watching how you all interact with one another.

Hope you get on well and good luck!

  1. Hayley T Said,

Hiya. Be confident, clear speaking and positive. Remeber the person's name you're talking to… a nice "Yes of course Mrs Pattison, thank you for your call." Smile when you speak, it makes a difference to your voice.

They are checking on how you interact with others, wether you are a leader or a follower. Be yourself, listen carefully to instructions and be polite. You might find that someone tries to take over the group - let them - it is not always a good thing.

For a customer service job you need to be :
presentable, polite, interested, knowledgeable and unflappable as well as able to handle difficult situations so that the company comes out looking good.

Prepare yourself for these kinds of scerios. Learn as much as possible about the company - especially it's core values.

    Relax and enjoy. Good luck.

I agree with Haylee. Dress in a suit (male or female) Your attitude and manner will be all the difference in the world. Your job will be dealing with their customers..IE the companies bread and butter. Holding onto them will be the companies 1st priority.
    No matter what, stay positive.
    Good luck.

Role play's are easy.. Be yourself.. Loose any attitude.. Be Nice.. Be professional.. Don't wear Jeans and a tie-dye T-shirt.. This is the first time they can see you.. Yes they have your resume but they don't have you pinned as a reliable employable person or a borderline psycho.. My suggestion.. Be as close to yourself as possible.. During the role play they will be probing for your real reactions.. then they will want to see how you handle yourself during those stresses.. KEEP COOL.. Remember costomer service rule #1 .. Keep Cool.. the customer reacts to the stressess in front of them.. then when they are not being met with respect (or rather what they percieve as dis-respect it escalates!)

    Hope this Helps!
    Good Luck!!!

  8. Laura J Said,

Yes, my job is to talk to people all over the world and I'm speaking from experience. Don't worry about how you should act or the attention ends up being on how you should act.

You need to focus on the other person when doing a role play without formulating an answer in your head before they are done asking you a question.

Really listen. If you are seen listening more than you are answering, you will get the job.

Message me if you get it.
