Before you read my email to my boss I want you to know that my boss is not likely to buy the computer but I want to give it my best- one time shot. I am not looking to get $600 from him, and would gladly accept $400, but I want to negotiate that price later. My main concern with this email is to spark interest and speak with him. Thank you very much for any input! Also, I would like to add that the company does need a laptop, so this is not just a random attempt to get a couple hundred dollars.
Thanks again!
I am in the process of getting a new computer and ditching my laptop and thought that the (COMPANY NAME HERE) might benefit greatly. The reason that I am upgrading is because I want to get a desktop.
The laptop is only a little over a year old, has vista, and is very quick. I believe that this would be a smart investment for the concierge's productivity, especially in the South Tower where there is not a computer available. There isn't anything wrong with the computer except minor scuffs on the screen from the keys.
I purchased the laptop and its upgrades for over $900 and I will post it on craiglist, if you don't want if for your concierge for $600. I am willing to go lower than that for the (COMPANY NAME), so please let me know if you are interested.

Here's my recommended edit:
I am buying a new desk top computer for personal use. I have a gently used, one year old HP Pavilion laptop (with Vista) that I'd like to sell. Before I offer it for sale on Craigslist I thought I would offer it to you for a very reasonable price of $600 (I bought it for over $900 a year ago).
I believe that the concierge's station in the South Tower could benefit from this purchase; adding a laptop would help improve efficiency and productivity for the concierge.
Please let me know if you are interested in looking at the laptop by (insert a reasonable date but do put a date so that you'll have an answer).
I'd leave out the comments about the scuff marks - they can see that for themselves and it might put them off.
